Coach Casey was born and raised in Boca Raton, FL. Throughout his childhood, Casey built a name for himself on the court from nothing but hard work and determination. Coach Casey was a top talent in Florida, winning a state championship as a sophomore starter at Westminster Academy and being named Broward County Player of the Year as a Junior for North Broward Preparatory School. Casey went on to sign with Marshall University (Huntington, WV) before transferring to Dunk City's Florida Gulf Coast University (Fort Myers, FL). Casey joined the 1,000 points club in just three years at FGCU and holds the highest single season Division I points per game average at FGCU. Casey then went on to play four years professionally in Spain, Romania, and the Dominican Republic.
After retiring, Casey jumped back into basketball, this time as a skills coach for Step It Up Summer Camp. Casey immediately stood out in the coaching world, with his energy and dedication devoted to each athlete separating him from the competition. Casey’s vision carried him to founding Ball By Design with his younger brother, Colby, in February 2014.
Currently, Casey continues to organically grow Ball By Design and is the Head Boy’s Basketball Coach at his alma mater, North Broward Preparatory School. His passion and dedication continue to help him grow as a coach, husband, and business man.
Hector Aleman was born in Maracaibo Venezuela and raised in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Coach Hector was a high speed attacking Point Guard during his years at Deerfield Beach High School, and Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut. Coach Hector leaves a special legacy behind in his 4 collegiate years. He was named "The best 6th man in school's history" by coach Todd Peretz who's been the head coach at Mitchell for 17 years. Coach Hector led his team to their best 2 seasons in school history by winning the NECC Conference Championship for the first time ever, and advancing to the NCAA Tournament in 2014. After completing his collegiate career, Coach Hector turned his focus to coaching and is currently the Head JV Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach at North Broward Preparatory School along side Coach Casey. Coach Hector has the unique ability of developing and teaching young perimeter players. Coach Hector brings the same calm, cool and collected demeanor that helped him succeed as a player to the sideline, and we couldn't be more excited to have him on our team.
Lance Maney was born and raised in Shepherd, Michigan and played varsity basketball at Shepherd High School. His hard work and determination led him to Mid-Michigan Community College. At MMCC, Lance played for two years, earning a captain's title his second season and a team identity, the "gym rat". After MMCC Coach Lance played for the Central Michigan University Club Basketball Team where he was the leading 3-point shooter and earned all tournament team honors twice. Coach Lance earned his bachelors degree in Psychology and his masters in Sports Administration from Central Michigan University. Once completing his basketball career, Coach Lance decided to focus his efforts on becoming a coach because he wanted to give back to the game that he felt provided him an abundance of opportunities and memories. He was an assistant coach at his alma mater Mid-Michigan for two years as well as head freshman coach at his former high school Shepherd. He also spent the last two summers coaching at Camp Echo Lake in New York. Coach Lance is currently the Head Varsity Coach at Donna Klein in Boca Raton. Coach Lance's knowledge and love for the game of basketball make him a perfect fit for how we operate at BBD, after all, We Work!!
